WAIKIKIE HAWAIIAN BBQ is kind of a kooky concept — and not just because of the lighted faux palm tree at the edge of the parking lot. The comfort-food-meets-fast-food menu — featuring corpulent delicacies like fried Spam with sunny-side-up eggs topped with gravy — may confound anyone who hasn't encountered similar Hawaiian "plate lunch" places in Oahu or at franchises such as the L&L; Hawaiian Barbecue chain in the west. WAIKIKIE ATLANTA: Located on a stretch of Briarcliff Road dotted with strip center storefronts and ethnic restaurants, Waikikie is in a freestanding building. The stucco and stone walls and suburban front patio don't exactly scream big island. But inside, the walls are painted bright colors, and the ceiling is cloud-themed.
